About the artwork:

Sara Elizabeth Buchanan, known artistically as Sahra, is a self-taught Liberian artist inspired by her mother and mentor, renowned Afro-Cubist artist Milly Buchanan. Working primarily with graphic pens on a smaller scale, Sahra’s art celebrates the beauty and strength of African women. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at UNESCO in Paris, and she recently illustrated Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee’s book, Monday's Motivations: Reflections During a Pandemic. Beyond art, Sara is a seasoned philanthropic leader with a focus on digital inclusion and economic empowerment in Africa. A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and mother of four, she is currently working on the "Finer Woman" series honoring her sorors of the Delta Iota Zeta chapter—the first D9 organization chapter established in Africa.
